Writing Without Tears

Handwriting is a fundamental skill that leads pupils to automatic word recognition. It is located at the bottom of Scarborough’s rope, in the skills section. The alphabetic concept is reinforced as pupils make letters. Students must be able to automatically recall the sign for the sound, so when pupils practise Handwriting Without Tears (HWT), they learn to transfer that information.
